Hey #hairymancarefam,

For this month, we want to focus on moustaches - the part of the beard that loves to take over your lip. Let's look into the history and dive into how you can style and look after your glorious moustache. Why Moustache? Like all the fashion trends that we see come and go, (and sometimes come again), the moustache has had a shifting popularity over time. The word "moustache" is French, and according to Encyclopaedia Britannica, it is derived from the fourteenth century Italian word “moustacio”, this in turn, can be traced all the way back to the Hellenistic Greek word for lip. The First Moustache From our digging around, it appears that the earliest instance of a clearly defined mo appeared on the upper lip of an ancient Egyptian prince named Rahotep. He was 4th Dynasty which dates his mo back to about 2500BC. His statue appears with wife Nofret at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Are Moustaches Awesome? Start the day with a beard wash, to get the best hold from the wax your moustache must be clean and free of any oils, once washed if your wanting a handlebar moustache try and style dry you moustache using a hair dryer and hair curls or a round brush. Once dry you should have the basic shape, now apply the wax starting with a piece about the size of small pee, rub the wax between your thumb and 1st finger until it is soft and pliable, start from your nose and gently slide/work the wax out to the ends. For a large moustache you would typically do this 3 times per side. Also using a comb to help distribute the wax through the entire moustache. It takes a little time to get used to, but it does get easier the more times you do it. With regular use of moustache wax it will train your hairs to grow in the style and direction you want. At the end of the day, you will want to remove the wax, the best way to do this is with a beard oil. Oil will dissolve the wax making removal so much easier. Apply 3 -4 drops per side gently massage it in, and you will feel the wax soften immediately. Leave in for 5 – 10 minutes. Then wash your moustache clean using a beard wash shampoo. Lastly to hydrate the moustache so as it remains soft and healthy apply a small amount of beard oil or beard balm/butter. Wake up the next day and repeat the process. So that's about it fam, hope this helps the stache fellas out there. A massive shoutout to Noel for his input on this blog.
