How to stop itchy beard

Beard butter, solution for itchy beard!

Hey #hairymancarefam,

Hope you all are doing amazing and having a great start to the weekend!

As you may have seen a few weeks ago on our socials, we posted a story about writing a blog on the differences between a whipped and poured beard butter. But, before we go ahead and tell you about the difference, let’s get to know what beard butter is and what it is used for.

We are familiar with beard oils and beard balms, its benefits and how it helps with the beard and skin but wondered what on earth is beard butter and would it be useful for me? Honestly, this is one of the main questions I get asked from fellow bearded brethren when I attend local markets/events.

So, What Is Beard Butter?

Regardless short or long beard, the itchiness, the dryness, and flakiness are a stage we all experience, and we hate it!

Beard butter is essentially an ointment that can be applied to beards to help relieve that itchiness, aid in beard growth, stop beard dandruff, soften the beard, improve the look, and increase overall beard health. It does these things when you apply this ointment to your beard and to your skin beneath the beard. Once the product has been applied to the beard and skin underneath, it starts to condition the beard and skin and, over time, will help improve your beard and skin.

Unlike beard balm, beard butter does not need to contain beeswax, so it is applied more like a paste rather than a solid. Ultimately, this gives beard butter a creamier texture which many men prefer.

Based on my personal experience, it is best to use beard butter at night time before hitting the bed. Your partner would love it too, especially if the beard butter smells amazing ;)

Now let’s tackle the main topic..

Whipped Beard Butter Vs Non-Whipped Beard Butter

There are two different styles of beard butter: Whipped Beard Butter and Non-Whipped Beard Butter or also known as poured beard butter. So let's discuss the difference between the two styles.

First, let's discuss what a whipped beard butter is. Whipped beard butter is basically a beard butter whipped with a high-speed blender or mixer that injects a large amount of air into the formula.  While this formula looks great and creamy at first, the air injection creates a false volume of formula.  Therefore, whipped beard butter gives the user less product for the money spent to apply to their beard.  This method also, at times, can become gritty due to mixing in a lower quality shea butter.

Hairy Man Care’s beard butter is very different…

Let's look at how we make our poured beard butter formula.

We start by double boiling organic shea butter, cocoa butter and mango butter. This butter is formulated to eliminate the gritty texture that commonly forms over time with other butters. We then add coconut oil, sweet almond oil, hemp seed oil and vitamin E oil into our melted butters. Soon after this, we add our special blends of natural essential, fragrance and oud oils for scent. After all ingredients are well mixed, the product is finally poured into glass jars and are then blast chilled in a refrigerator for 4-6 hours. After removing from the refrigerator, the jars are inspected and then lightly hit with a heat gun for that ultra-smooth finish.  This entire process from start to finish is done entirely by hand, and while this is a tedious process, the result is worth it.  The final product is an unmatched beard butter!

Conclusion

So ultimately, beard butter is going to help you have a better-looking, less itchy, and more attractive beard. It's ultimately your preference that will determine which formula is right for you.
